FAILURE TO SENSE:

 

 

The heart produces an impulse, but the pacemaker does not detect or recognize the patient’s beat. On an ECG, the pacemaker does not sense a native beat, and therefore does not inhibit the pacemaker.  Subsequently, the pacemaker gives an inappropriate spike.
